So, I guess this is a good place to post this. Tonight, I watched my grandaughter while her mom and a friend went to the movies. I took her for a drive around the nice part of town to look at the Christmas lights on the houses. It was great. Some people are really artistic with the light shows, and we were just going up and down the suburban streets real slow looking at the houses.
Then, I wanted to go to another area of town, and pulled out on the main road and in a split second, a cat darted out from the dark and right under my wheels. I heard my car hit it, and then we ran over it. I felt the wheels go up then down. It was bad.
And my little girl just freaked! She starts crying and I'm telling her the cat was hurt but would make it home and be ok. So, I turn around to see if it could possibly be alive, but even though it was dark, with no street lights in that area, as we drove past it, I could see it on the side of the road, not moving at all. What a terrible thing to have happen with her in the car and at this time of year.
Well, I got her calmed down and took her to the mall to ride the merry go round, and train, and all the rides and get some soft pretzels, and play in the playground in there and, into alot of toy stores and it worked. She stopped talking about the cat, finally.
I took her home, we made hot cocoa, popcorn, and then mom showed up. I just hope she dosen't have any bad dreams tonight from it. She loves all animals, and I have a beautiful, Persian cat that looks alot like the one I hit. It was dark and I was driving slow, but, trying to tell a 4 year old that I could not stop is nearly impossible.
I keep my cat indoors, always. In the city people should not let their cats out. This happens alot when you do. Cats don't mind living indoors at all, and they live alot longer and stay alot more healthy with no disease and very little fleas.
It's the first time this has happened to me, and I'm real sorry she was there. When I was a trucker I hit a few deer when going through Wyoming, but not in a car. It's a bad sound and feeling when it happens.
