Today I learnt that when prisoners sharpen stuff up and use it to cut each other it's called "shivving" or could be "chivving" I didn't ask how it was spelled!

Wow, there's a word for everything isn't there?
Thanks for that Kiva website. It looks like a fantastic idea! It reminds me of the recent news of the Kidney foundation charity turning into a Comm. Charities that benefit everyone! Smart buggers...
Anyway, today I learnt that I am pants when it comes to interpreting proverbs...
I interpreted:
"Running brooks make loud noises".
to mean:
"Small people are loud".
Anyone know what it actually means?

Today I learnt that when prisoners sharpen stuff up and use it to cut each other it's called "shivving" or could be "chivving" I didn't ask how it was spelled! In American prisons it is called shank. But it has more to do with stabbing than cutting. As in, "Bubba got shanked in the yard today!" Just checked the official source (besides Epi, who should know): For Shiv: www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=shivFor Shank: www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=shankAll in all, it's the same thing!

I have learnt that the Starlight Express Room is closing for two weeks as the hospital crèche, which had to move due to flooding when the water main burst, is taking over the room. Until their area can be repaired. Nick was looking forward to going their during the school holidays. Now it looks like the first two weeks of school holidays will be boring indeed.

Today I learnt that when using face book, some applications will run on Google Chrome and some will not, requiring the use of Internet Explorer.
P.S. I prefer Google Chrome as it has a built in spell checker that I can use as I type.

I have learnt that 3 extra 6yr olds equals a massive amount of noise. You can say that twice, and loudly too. In fact with all that noise you have to say it loudly or no one will hear you.

It's just as well that nobody heard the screams cos after today i would probably have been locked up I have learnt, albeit the hard way, that a group of kids of any age is not a good idea to have in yr house for most of the day and night
