I have learnt today that the Starlight Children's Foundation is short of funds and cannot open the Starlight Express Room in the Royal Children's Hospital, in Melbourne as often as they used to. Today for example, when the room is usually open half a day, it was closed as they did not have a trained captain to run the room. That is sad news CC. I hope that they can get the help they need soon. It's a very worthy cause. Today I learnt that I have less than two weeks to do all my Christmas shopping. I hate shopping... I always end up with less money than before I'd left.

today I learnt that there REALLY is software that can recover your shots when you've had a "blond" moment - 600 shots of the cheer leading end of year concert saved from the scrap heap.
I had deleted them on camera thinking I had imported them to iPhoto but aaaaaaaah I had not ..................fortunately my knowledgeable friends at Pixalo pointed me in the right direction and problem solvered! with a nifty piece of software called "Card Rescue" - scanned the card for free to tell me if pics salvageable - yes - buy to actually salvage - $46 AUD - now if I do it again (heaven forbid) I have the software

There are free-ware programs that will rescue deleted files off of discs/cards; PC Inspector Smart Recovery works well. Today I've learnt that criticising Chips only encourages him. He's now threatening to print off a list of complaints to read during meal times.

It's not about the money Adam. Does that mean the shops will let me have the presents for free?

And will one of your complaints be you are expected to pay board and it's too much?

It's not about the money Adam. Does that mean the shops will let me have the presents for free? Be resourceful and go make something. Go and gather nuts and berries, or shells, or gum leaves, make something festive - it might just end up being free - you know, you wont have to part with your money. I'm sure Chips would appreciate something like a daisy chain. He would surely be impressed. Someone said it's the thought that counts (must have been the same man who talked about the quality not the length that matters)

And will one of your complaints be you are expected to pay board and it's too much? Not at all. Accommodation is a necessity (though I suppose nomads would disagree), and I find it quite acceptable to pay for this. I do not begrudge buying people gifts for Christmas or birthdays/special occasions, but I still think these occasions would be a nicer get together with family and friends without the presents factor. It is difficult for some people, not own financially, but it is also difficult to come up with presents the recipient will cherish. Does that mean the shops will let me have the presents for free? Be resourceful and go make something. Oh, and I don't really mind parting with the money, but Christmas does put a dent in the weekly budget..... I should probably open a Christmas account and put some money in weekly to better prepare. Anyway, didn't you learn anything today!?

Ive learnt today that elderly people think they have a god given right to park on the bloody pavement... including the sensory surface for the blind That makes me soooooooooooooooo mad Let the air out of all their tyres... it's good fun watching them remove one wheel at a time and walking to the servo or standing there for hours with a foot pump.
