Fake gift card fortune on eBay January 11, 2009
ABOUT $750,000 worth of electrical goods sold on eBay by a Sydney man over the past two months were bought with fraudulent gift cards, police alleged in court yesterday.
Andrew Sun, 32, was refused bail in Parramatta Bail Court after a police raid on his apartment in Canterbury Road, Campsie.
Police allegedly found 41 iPods, 180 laptop computers, eight personal computers, 42 mobile phones, 64 PlayStation consoles, 201 GPS navigation units, 113 cameras, 18 PlayStation portables, 12 Nintendo Wii consoles and 220 Myer gift cards.
Police said they had been alerted by loss prevention officers at Myer.
Mr Sun told police he bought the equipment and cards from a man he knew as Peter and had suspected something illegal.
He faces six charges of recklessly dealing with the proceeds of crime and will appear in court this week.
