Money wasted at Fromelles
The search at Fromelles carried out by archaeologists, historians and workers cannot serve any long-term benefit ("Text message told of an arm found in grave", May 29). Let the dead rest in peace, with a suitable memorial at the site. Sadly, my uncle died at Bullecourt, France, in October 1918; he is dead, that's all there is to it. The huge sums of money being spent at Fromelles could have been used to help the living disadvantaged now.

I don't agree. These men need to be laid to rest with honour.

I can guarantee if there was an ancestor of this inconsiderate woman on Any battlefield she would want him treated with the dignity and respect that ALL soldiers friend or foe deserve. As for her uncle in all probability he is resting in a Commonwealth War Grave being treated with the Dignity that we as anation should bestow on him.
