Where's my dad's front page?
I felt it was front page news when my father, Ian McCarthy, died. He was just as loved, respected, and admired as Lara Bingle's ("Lara Bingle speaks out after father's death", smh.com.au, May 12). Unfortunately, his daughter has not featured in a TV commercial.

With all due respect to the Bingle family.... I felt the same way Catherine.

Private grief, public property
The death of your father, Catherine Birch (Letters, May 14), was patently as tragic for you and your family as that of Lara Bingle's was for hers. But would you really want, as well as a front-page splash, the clamour and interference with grief that Bingle will undoubtedly face at her father's funeral? Sometimes our grief demands a quiet corner, free from everybody, let alone the intrusively harsh glare of TV lights.
