I hate to tell you this but we had to put Beau the Bloodhound down this afternoon. Beau had spent the first 4 years of his life bouncing from family to family in a crate then ending up in a kennel. When my friends found him he weighed 75 lbs. "His normal weight is 125." The had him just over a year and their son developed an allergy to him and we adopted Beau. We just got a Catahoula Australian Shepard mix puppy and Beau would play with her. He was always so very gentle with puppies and he was with her. She would torment him and bite his ears and tail but he would just take it and lick her. If they other dog would come over and start wrestling with her, Beau would break it up and get upset. We thought he had sprained his ankle from avoiding stepping on her when they would play. My Wife took him to the Vet and we were told that the ankle was gone. It had disintegrated. He had bone cancer. We never knew it. He never complained. He was really a great dog and we were lucky to have him for the last part of his life. Here is the last picture we have of him. This was at Christmas. He loved being out here, chasing squirrels, sleeping, and of course eating. He was a gentle giant of a pup.

I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. They become so much more than pets. At least Beau the Bloodhound had a great life with you. Time will bring back great memories. And you'll meet again, of that I am sure.
