You'll need:
.glass jar or drinking glass .piece of cotton string .pencil or stick .paper clip .240 ml (1 cup) of water .480 ml (2 cups) of sugar .additional sugar
1.Boil the water, then dissolve two cups of sugar into it. For bigger crystals, boil the sugar-water solution again, dissolving as much additional sugar as you can.
2.Tie a short piece of cotton string to the middle of the pencil or stick.
3.Attach a paper clip to the end of the string as a weight.
4.Moisten the string lightly, and roll it in a bit of sugar. This provides "seeds" to help crystals start growing.
5.Place the pencil or stick over the top of the glass or jar with the string hanging down inside.
6.Pour the cooled sugar-water solution into the prepared glass or jar and wait. Depending on how much sugar you were able to dissolve into the water, you should start to see crystals growing in a few hours to a few days.
Be patient – it can take up to a week!

My son is only allowed candy/lollies on Fridays unless there is a special occasion. He waits a week.
Why you might ask?
I don't want him to be horizontally challenged like his mum. I have to pay his dentist bill for many years to come.

Epi, We are all horizontally challanged at some point in our lifes, the bigest challange is facing it and controling it!!!!!
Now for the dentist, he has to make a living too, if your son brushes his teeth after meals and sweets he should be fine, not eating candy will not keep teeth healthy and white.

Well Epi I am also horizontally challenged, but I rather be that than mentally challenged. I have been fighting the battle for far too long. And with every success comes that downfall back into the bad habits I ignored for so long. I have decieded to change what I can, but will not go on another diet, because in doing so I end up just adding more to the total in the end.
I now work on changing things a little at a time. If you use wheat bread instead of white it is supposed to take off 10lbs in a year. Same with switching to diet soda. Add friut to your diet, it might end up taking the place of some of the bad stuff you eat. And drink 8-10 glasses of that water a day and you will end up being the better off for it. And you know the most important thing is that you do it for you and nobody else.

It's easy.......
Trouble is with you ladies... when it comes to food you don't understand the word no.
Breakfast Toast with the smallest anount of spread. Coffee with sweetner... no sugar. Fruit. (Or wheeties with fruit over them.)
Mid morning snack. Fruit.
Lunch 2 rounds of dry bread As much salad as you can cram between them. Yogurt.
Dinner Lean meat of choice (Chicken's Good and Fish) As many veg as you can eat.
Drink lots of water and walk for an hour a day as fast as you can.
Once a week... splurge on what you want.
Worked for me.
