It just sounds weird to put a small radiator, that looks like it came right out of a miniature car, into a computer case. But, Antec is now selling, in partnership with Kuhler Cooling, a small liquid cooler that is around $60.00, and will drop the temperature of your cpu, as well as the surrounding components by 10-15 degrees celcius. That's a big drop. And your computer will thank you with much better performance and much longer lifespan.
Up until now, the liquid coolers have been big, expensive, and sometimes leaked. You also had to fill and maintain them. Not anymore, with this one, it's pre-filled, sealed, and the liquid is never touched. You never have to do anything to it, ever. Just hook it up and watch the computer get real cool. Now, I know some of you live in pretty warm climates, and instead of adding a dozen noisy fans to try to keep it cool. Just spend $60.00 and relax.
I like playing games, and they make a computer heat up alot, very fast. Same with doing alot of downloads. And, the coolers that come with the processors are junk. The stock coolers are only good for very simple computer work that does not tax the system. But, if you want to keep it cool without alot of noisy fans, then get this cooler.
It's called the Antec Kuhler 620, and all reviews are great, and 99% of customers love it. I love the fact that it's so quiet you can't tell it's even in there.
The way it works is this. The kit comes with a 120mm fan and radiator, with two rubber hoses coming off it. The hoses go to a small round pump that sits on top of the processor. When you start the computer, the liquid is pumped through the hoses, then up through the radiator then down to the pump, which takes all the heat from the processor and as it's brought through the radiator, it's blown out the back of the case. You simply replace the exhasut fan you now have with this cooler, and it's fan. They are the same size and screw together to the back, or wherever you want it to go. They fit the same place as the one you now have. No holes to drill or anything to modify at all. It's made for AMD and Intel and most newer cpus.
I can testify to how well this works. I have a brand new processor and cooler. With the stock cooler, my temps were around 43-45c at idle. And when I ran a game for 30 minutes, it would jump to 51c. Now, with this system, my idle temp is 30-33c at idle, and 39-40c under a load.
So, summers coming (well, here it is), and it's a good time to upgrade the cooling system. It will add years to your computer parts, as heat kills. UPDATE: The price just dropped to $54.00 at Newegg for this-wow, it's a super deal for a great product. Here's a link:
