Peach or Epi
If you guys don't mind will you start me a blog here .
I spend enough time here I might as well have my own spot.
That way I can keep my long winded posts all in one place.
I will do pictures, lots of them. I am a scrap booker, so you have been warned. LOL
And my writings about what is important to me as well as articles that touch me in some way.
For now, I had a nice gentleman ask me some questions about the relationship between being a Christian and how I vote.
I will post my response to him here . It explains how I think politically very well I think. And it will save me some time from having to type this over and over again. I can just come here to my blog and grab it and post. ......................Can you tell I need to do some cleaning up on my own computer ?
I am a big believer in the separation of church and state. One of the most brilliant ideas the founders of this country gave us was the separation of Church and state. Having a son who is a History teacher I am a bit of a amateur history buff. A look at history shows that most societies , even the pagan ones were heavily influenced by the ideology of what the Gods or the God would want. History also shows that this religious influence in governments led to wide spread abuse of the populace. One way or the other.
The bible clearly teaches that Christians will never rule this world. Not at least until Christ comes back. The bible shows that the world will just get more and more sinful until Christ returns. Our job as Christians is not to try to govern this world. Our job is to shine the light and love of Christ into the world one person at a time. Morality cannot be legislated the way we would like to do it. Morality must be taught one person to one person at a time.
I am a big believer in the principal of separation of church and state. Its essential. However when Christ said give unto Caesar what is caesar 's and to God what is God's he was particularly talking about taxes. The entire passage is about paying tribute (taxes) Other things not related to taxes can be inferred from that same passage, but the only thing that can be inferred completely, is that Christ was talking about taxes when he said to give to Caesar what is caesar's .
So as a tax paying citizen, one who lives in a democracy and one who is a Christian it is my right to petition and work for my taxes being spent in way that corresponds with the teachings of Christ. For instance Christ taught war was wrong and that taking care of the father less , widows , and sick was something he will judge the nations and individuals on. So as a tax paying citizen I would like to see a lot less war and a lot more helping people done in this country. For committed followers of any religion I am sure its the same. Certainly as a Christian while I may want church and state separated I cannot lay down my Christian beliefs when I vote for how my tax money ought to be spent. I vote for it to go to people. In agreement with the teachings of Christ.
The argument the right wing makes about ending all social program speaks to where there hearts are in my opinion. They want to end social programs even though 1700 years of recorded history shows that the churches and charities were able to do very little for the sick, elderly and father less in our societies. Don't know what they could have done , but history shows they did little and people died needlessly. Yet the right wing doesn't want their money spent on people. They do however support nearly every dime spent on a military that spends more than the military's of the rest of the world combined.
What does that say about where their hearts are ?
I would say to these people they need to read the teachings of Christ again and start using their vote to uphold people and programs more in line with the teachings of Christ. Because they will be judged by what they supported .
That in short is why I support what I support. And I do it in love to people who say they are my Christian brothers and sisters in Christ. We are to emulate Christ. Christ paid taxes , I know Christ would advocate his tax money went to the sick, the father less and the elderly rather than to wars.
They didn't call him the Prince of Peace For Nothing.
