Remembering Sally
I remember the first time I laid eyes on Sally
For me, a brand new first grader,
It was like seeing a walking, talking
Flower, Sunshine & Cotton Candy
All rolled up into the prettiest girl I’d ever seen!
Not only pretty, but spunky too!
Heck, she could deck any boy,
Who mouthed off to her
And smile the whole time she was doing it!
As the years went by, Sally became everyone’s
Best friend.
Always there to listen and give
A “I understand” pat on the shoulder;
For those really close to her,
A “Sharing the Pain” Hug.
Even after all of these years
And many miles away,
I can still feel the warmth of her smile
Upon my face,
Although she, herself, is in much pain
And knowing she’s reached the end of life’s race,
Her spiritual smile will always be there for those of us who need it.
All we need to do is think of her and her time with us.
The tears may flow,
But with them the “Giving back smiles”
From those of us who were truly blessed
To know her and have her call us her friends!
With appreciation,
We now return you to our Creator,
Into whose care we know,
You’ll be safe, health and loved.
In due time, we know, by faith,
We’ll all be reunited again!
