Aging Gracefully?
I asked myself this question
After less than gracefully
Sticking my foot in my mouth.
You see,
There’s a young thinking boy
Still residing in this,?,
Less than young body.
Because of his anxiousness
To be friendly,
He actually scared some
Young folks to turn away.
This confused the young spirit within,
Causing the older and quieter spirit,
To invite the boy to sit down with him
And talk this incident over.
He opened by saying,
“Always observe rather than react first.
Truly count to ten before taking any action,
Outwardly.
Never talk or touch anyone first.
If you feel you must recognize them,
Then humbly smile and nod your head.
I know it’s hard for you to grasp, however,
You must always remember
That I too, live here as well!
You and I are now the teachers.
As such, we must always take the time,
To allow our wise old (that’s me) sage mode
To turn on, so to speak,
And be a good guiding light,
Thinking always about looking in a mirror
At ourselves,
Realizing that “we” are now guides;
Being good role models.
You want to be friendly
And the best way to be so
Is to humbly smile.
That’s all.
Then just let things unfold,
As they should;
Not feeling bad
Should the outcome not proceed,
As you had hoped.
That only means that you/we are not to be
Their teacher/firend.
If you feel confused and lonely,
I am always here
Along with our Creator,
To keep you company;
Helping you to be
All right!” 02-07-2013
