Stanley Baker is EXCELLENT in "Zulu". And a very young Michael Caine isn't bad either.
The (TRUE) story itself is a Memorial to astounding acts of heroism.
I forget (I saw the movie a long time ago), HOW MANY "Victoria Crosses" were awarded at Rourk's Drift?
I don't salute many things these days, but I salute the men of Rourk's Drift.

Eleven Mac which attests to how hard the fight was. That's one medal that is not earned easily.
The history of the Zulus really fascinates me, ever since I read the book Shaka Zulu some 45 years ago.
There is a TV mini series of Shaka which I would love to find and put on the forum.
The fighting methods of the Zulus with their short assagais and long Shields were much the same as the Romans with their shields and short swords and I've often wondered if they had done battle which side would be victorious. Probably the Zulus with their endurance and speed but then again, the Romans were great tacticians.
We'll never know now... two great empires that were thousands of years apart.

I really enjoyed the movie, even more after a documentary on it a couple of years ago! Thanks Chipper!
