In 1971, me and my girlfriend and about 5 of our friends were given free tickets to go see the stage production of Hair in San Francisco. We lived about 50 miles North of the city and someone knew someone and well, we ended up with free, front row seats. I had never really known much about it, but I had heard a few of the songs from it on the radio. This was the original New York cast performing it.
It was really good. The band was great and the cast did a good job. I didn't know the storyline (still don't) but what I saw was really good. Now, in the end of the play, they are all on stage singing one of the many songs all together. There's maybe 30 men and women up there singing and at the end of the song, a big see-thru parachute drops down and completely covers everyone on stage.
They are still singing under the shoot and you can see their doing something, but I don't know what. Then, the parachute lifts up and their all standing their completely nude! I was surprised. I had not been told this would go on. It was still a new show and I didn't read about it, so this was kind of a shocker. I mean, I was young and this is San Francisco, but still, I was not ready for it, and I'm sure many others weren't either.
So, then the band starts playing and they have all the fog machines creating alot of colorful fog and people are dancing and then a couple of them come down to our front row seats and drag us up there!
I really didn't want to go up there but my girlfriend wanted to, so we did.
We danced around up there with all these naked people for about 15 minutes then it was over. It was fun and different. I'm just wondering if any of you saw this show live and did they get naked in the end?
About a year or so later, we went to see the musical Tommy in SF and it was even better. The band played perfect. They sounded better then The Who! The actors were really good and the show was well worth seeing live.
I miss those stage shows and I will have to take my grandaughter to see Disney On Ice when it comes next year. I think it's safe to assume that there won't be any nudity. I don't need to see Goofy, nude on ice or anywhere else-lol
