Because of the weather we tend to do things a little differently in Oz.
My family initially struggled with the traditional Christmas dinner but the heat meant it was hard work for the ladies and the hot meal was uncomfortable in blistering heat.
Our Christmas repast normally consists of cold cuts, Turkey breast, chicken, roast pork, leg ham, roast beef, pork pie with crisp pickled onions, salads of all kinds. Seafood is also popular, prawns and smoked fish and if they are cheap enough... a snapper cooked on the barbeque makes a great addition.
All of the above is usually washed down with great South Australian wimes and beer.
Roll on Christmas.

I also do the traditional Christmas dinner, turkey, yorkshire puddings, stuffing, pigs in blankets, parsnips etc. However, I cant really say that it's my favourite. The best meal i ever had on Christmas day was when Amber was 8days old and the hubby cooked a piece of ham. We had it with mashed potatoes and mushrooms. It was delicious. ALthough i wont be having the ham this year cos hubby usually cooked it and we arent together anymore.

I still do the big roast turkey for Christmas - regardless of the heat (Australian born women must be tougher).
Mum always made the Christmas fruit cake, the plum pudding and the mince pies. Guess I better work that all out this year.
I make chocolate rocky road Christmas trees too.
