Dang coputer turned cannibal on me. It ate about 50 pictures off my camera card. I was going to download/upload , or whatever it is and put the card into the computer. It asked me if I wanted to put this in a new file. I typed in the date as the name and it said something about it couldn't do that. So I took the card out to try later. When I put the card back into the camera the pictures were GONE.
I hope their hiding somewhere in either the computer or on the card. Cousin Sandy said that happened to her when she tried to down/upload hers for the first time. She took the card to the camera shop and after $40 they found the pictures.
I did a search for the file but nothing showed up.
Any ideas?

Oh okay, I see what you did. I'm thinking you typed your date in as (example:) 06/25/2008, right? A computer recognizes the / symbol as a routing device. In other words, it's a map to a location on the computer's memory. So it couldn't "logically" use the / symbol in a file name. The computer must have renamed the file (without the / symbol) and saved it.... it's worth a try anyway....

I typed the file name as 06-24-08. But I am not sure it's in the computer. But I can retrieve them off the card even if it says there are no images there. In fact ScanDisk includes a mini Rescue CD with each camera card.
I bought two new cards today so I won't put more photos on the card. I'll work on the others when I get home.

Have a look in your Documents/My Received Files, Nancy.
That's worth a try.

Have a look in your Documents/My Received Files, Nancy. That's worth a try. Chips, that's the first thing I did. I am sure they are still on the card but I can't use it untill I get them off so I bought two new cards today to take to SC. South Carolina. I did notice that with my SanDisk comes a mini "RescuePRO" CD. If that doesn't work several at Pixalo , the site Willow so kindly invited me to , have given me suggestions on what to do. If all else fails I can take them to Wolf Camera here and they can recover the pictures.

I've got port slots on my printer for memory cards but never use them. I download both cameras using their respective programs....
That way I don't get into trouble which makes a change.
