Toad in the hole I’ve known of this dish for years but never tried it until a few weeks ago. I’ve now made it twice with great success Ingredients (serves 4) • 2 tablespoons olive oil • 8 thick beef or pork sausages • 3/4 cup Plain Flour • 1/2 teaspoon salt • 2 eggs • 1 1/4 cups milk • White pepper to taste Method 1. Preheat oven to 200°C. Pour oil into a 5cm deep, 25cm x 35cm (base) roasting pan. Place into oven for 5 minutes or until hot. 2. Prick sausages both sides with a fork. Using tongs, carefully add sausages to hot oil. Bake for 35 minutes, turning frequently until browned. 3. Meanwhile, sift flour and salt/pepper into a bowl. Make a well in the centre. Whisk eggs, milk and rosemary together in a jug. Add to flour mixture. Mix until batter is smooth. 4. Remove roasting pan from oven. Remove excess oil leaving two tablespoons in the pan. Increase oven temperature to 220 degrees. Place pan and sausages back in oven to regain temperature. Carefully pour batter over sausages. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until puffed up and golden. Serve. This meal is delicious served with combined potato & onion mash, your choice of veg and a rich onion gravy.

Ohhhhhhh god im slavering now.. i love this dish but never make it cos of the hassle i have making yorkshire puddings.
I might just give this a go though.

Ok my version is: 1.Take a slice of bread, cut out a small hole in the bread, spread butter all over the bread front and back side. 2. Place in fry pan, season with seasoned salt. 3.Heat. 4.Crack and egg into the hole, and fry until egg is cooked. 5. As for the little piece of bread you cut out, spread with butter, season with seasoned salt and fry too. 6.Then EAT! But ah I'm gonna try your version this weekend.

Toad-in-the-HoleFrom Food Network Kitchens
Ingredients Unsalted butter, for brushing on skillet 1 1/2 pounds sweet spiral pork sausages 1 cup all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon sugar 1 teaspoon kosher salt 4 large eggs 1 cup milk 1 tablespoon yellow mustard, plus extra for serving Directions Serving suggestions: assorted mustards
Preheat an oven to 400 degrees F.
Lightly butter a medium well-seasoned cast iron skillet. Put the sausage in the skillet, and bake until almost cooked, about 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, whisk the flour, sugar, and salt together in a medium bowl. In another bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, and mustard until blended. Whisk the liquid ingredients into the dry, just until you have a slightly lumpy thin batter.
Carefully, pour the batter over the partially cooked sausages and continue to bake until the batter puffs and is crispy, and brown, about 25 to 30 minutes more.
Serve the Toad-in-the-Hole, hot, in the skillet with more mustard on the side.

The best mustard in the world is Colman's english mustard... made just down the road from me in Norwich.
