Whole gaggle of them there.

Anyone ever cook with the crock pot? Any favorite recipes?

Braised Steak and Onions
Top Rated Beef Recipes

Preparation time: 15 to 30 minutes A nice old fashioned family dinner,

Ingredients

1 kg oyster blade steak, trimmed
Seasoned flour

2 tablespoons oil

60 g butter

3 onions, halved and sliced thickly
1 tablespoon flour, extra

2 ¼ cups water

2 beef stock cubes

1 teaspoon vegemite

1 tablespoon tomato paste

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper
Method

Dust steak lightly with the seasoned flour.

Heat oil in frying pan and brown steak well on each side. Place in a Dutch oven.

Repeat with remaining steaks.

Add butter to frying pan and mix with pan juices.

Add onions and cook until transparent, stir in extra flour and cook for 2 minutes.

Gradually add water and stock cubes, stir until sauce boils and thickens a little.

Add vegemite, tomato paste and sauce.

Pour sauce over meat, cover and cook for 1 ½-2 hours.

Recipe notes

You could put this in the slow cooker although I have not tried that. I use Massel stock cubes, they are bigger then the ordinary ones (Continental) so you might need to use an extra one if you are using those. I served this dish with mashed potato, broccoli and carrots. My kids loved the "gravy". There was a lot of gravy left and I am going to use that as a gravy for the rissoles I will cook tonight.

I used the Crockpot and cooked for 4 hours.

I love my slow cooker, but even more, I love my Dutch Ovens (filled with good food) in a bed of coals... YUM.
